Huawei promised Marshmallow update for most of its devices including the extremely powerful mid-ranger of its Honor series i.e. the Honor 6. Keeping up to the promise, Huawei or the EMUI team is constantly pushing Marshmallow builds to its beta testers who help making sure that the software is perfect before being delivered to all the customers.
If you can’t wait for the official Marshmallow update to be pushed to your device, you can install the beta update by following this article.
Install Marshmallow EMUI 4.0 B803 on Honor 6
Warning: This OTA update only applies to Indian version of Honor 6 i.e. H60-L04 on the B550 software version. Do not try to install it on other variants.
- Download the B803 OTA update file (named update.zip) from the links below. You can download it directly on the phone or use a PC to download.
Download from Mega Download from Google Drive - Create a new folder named dload in the SD card or the internal memory of your Honor 6.
- Paste the downloaded update.zip file into the dload folder created in previous step.
- On your Honor 6, open Settings> Update.
- Tap on Menu and choose Local update.
- Tap on Incremental package: update.zip and then start the installation by tapping Install on the next screen.
- Your phone will shut down, install the update and then reboot after successful installation of the update.

Yeah, my phone automatically downloaded the update so i upgraded it.I’m not able to find the update file online or its downgrade package. I was on B560 lollipop before and it drained less battery. Perhaps it’s just in my head. Check your battery drain on your current firmware and then compare it with B831. Let me know too. Other than that, the new features are good.
If you have the UPDATE.APP package for b831 do upload it online. Might need it for stock recovery if i root my phone again which i plan to.

And that’s the onlt problem you are facing? Just the battery drain.. I currently have kitkat 4.2 I didn’t received the lollypop update. Today morning it said that a new marshmallow update is available for my device.. I am planning to update it tmrw..

Narender dude I got the notification to update to marshmallow today on my device. I googled for the new B831 available for my device. Many people are facing problems. They are only able to use the device while its charging. I wanted to know that is it happening because they haven’t updated via phone or the update has the problem?
I have upgraded to B831 and phone works only when it is in charging. If the power cable USB is plugged off, the phone is switched off.

Did you check that correct Access Point Name for your operator is enabled?

additionally ….rollback to lollipop is available for UK, Europe, Malaysia , but not available for India users ..this is not acceptable…also autoupdate yesterday for H60-L04C67B831 where as india website has only H60-L04C67B822 available?

Suresh, you need to try out the various methods available. I did manage to downgrade mine earlier by flashing the downgrade package and then the full lollipop package. But now I don’t know which one finally worked.
So please go with some hit and trial. One or the other will definitely work for you.
Also, try a full factory reset once and chances are that your issues will be sorted.

Shuts down every now and then since the Update to B831, and heats the phone like hell. Do you guys know a place to report these issues?
Did you try a hard reset? Mine works pretty smooth here. Could be a configuration issue.
I don’t think they have a direct bug helpdesk other than through the regular support channels.
Well i’m gonna try hard reset first and then if that doesn’t work, i’ll just downgrade.

Yeah mine too, it runs as long as it’s connected to charger. After that anything I do will just turn the phone off.

I have B570 version lolipop, now I tried to install this B803 but it says installation fail download again 🙁

Since the package can only be installed over B550, it won’t install for you because you have a newer one already installed. You either need to downgrade or look for a package which accepts B570 as the base.

I installed marshmallow through this article, many thanks to the author. The new UI is nice. Few tweaks here and there. Battery drain is high, still can’t figure out why. Phone drains in less than 8 hours now. But I like it. And it’s a great phone. Best Android for me ever.
The issues are because it is still a beta. You’ll experience more performance when the stable build is released 🙂

Guys its hardware specification is gud.. But in matter of software it is very very worse no regular update.. Only launching new mobile in market . without careing thinking about old mobile updates..they don’t think about customers..
It completely break official stock version android os..
And many features are removed and not support even 3rd party apps..
1) no multiple user
2)no call recorder even 3rd party apps not supported
3)no music equalizer
4)no motion gallery
5)no launcher
6)no fm recorder
7) notification bar
8) low volume
9)charger heated up quickly,
10)time lagging while typing long msg
11) no advance calculator
12) no option to shot pic while typing wrong password in main screen.
13) net data controler worse
14)in status bar, notification icon are very small
15) no regular updates
Finally worse mobile.. Alternate brand is much more better than honor at same price rate. It’s emui 4.0 is worse..
Guys boycott Huawei..I greatly mistaken by purchasing this honor 4x and 4c mobile..
In comparison to Huawei, xioami is much much better it’s miui is great with regular updates…
