Honor had promised to release Android Lollipop for 4x, and now they are completing their promise. Honor has started releasing the OTA update. The major updates brings the Lollipop improvement and also has modified the EMUI with some visual refinements, notifications, and others. The company has already released Lollipop for Honor 6, Honor 6 Plus and Honor 4C.
The 4X devices will take some time to get notified for the update. But you can update it manually.
Steps to Update Honor 4X to Lollipop
- Download the update package from here. The package of size 1.13GB. (Prefer it to Download from Google Drive – Link )
- After downloading it, extract the package. You will see “UPDATE.APP” file under dload folder.
- Copy this folder to the root of memory card.
- Now open “Settings > Update > Menu > Local Update”.
- You will see the downloaded file as “Full Package: UPDATE.APP”.
- Select it and it will prompt you to install it. Just tap “Install”.
- Let the update process to get finished.

Installation failed update to lalipop what’s prblms plz update the lalipop version
Most common reason for getting error is that the file is not downloaded properly.
As the file is very huge, resuming and pausing the download can damage the file 🙁
So make sure you download it in one go 🙂

i tried to firmware upgrade to marshmallow , i even tried to upgrade to lolipop incase direct upgrade was problem . In both cases i got the same error. After i place the dload folder to root of my sd card , and the update starts it fails after a sec and all i can do is restart phone. What is wierd in both cases is that after i restart the phone the dload folder in my sd card is dissapeared , like the phones deletes it after the failed update . would appreciate any help here . thank you

The most common reason why it say’s System update failed is that you have downloaded the file in parts, i.e. pausing and resuming the file. 🙁
You can re download the file and try again 🙂

Sorry to say but Honor 4X doesn’t have USB OTG Support so the pen drive can’t be connected. 🙁

Most probably your file isn’t properly downloaded. You should try downloading it again.

Try Reinstalling the Update via recovery.
Make sure that you have 50-60% charge.
plz share unlock bootloader process as soon as possible
honor 4x 6.o.1 marshmallow is also available if honor 4x bootloader is unlock

You need to copy the folder in the downloaded zip to you memory card.
Extract the zip. You will see “dload” named folder. Move that folder to your memory card.
Now goto “Settings > Update > Menu > Local Update” and see if it is detected. 😀

You can Download it on PC also or anywhere else.

I think after extracting the size would be around 1.3Gb.

You can try the Method of Updating Over the Air. 🙂
Andrew, did you try the force upgrade? Shut down the phone. Press and hold Volume Down and Volume Up. While having them pressed, press the power key. The phone should go into upgrade mode.

Means your phone is rooted. Right?
For unrooting the phone, Open the SuperSU app. There you will get the option for unrooting.
And for installing stock recovery you need to flash it using fastboot. 😀

Is your phone rooted?
If it’s rooted then you need to unroot it and flash the stock recovery first. Then install the update.
