Sony is running a great Black Friday 2025 promotion. The promotion provides a 33% discount on an annual PS Plus Deluxe (or Premium) membership. The Black Friday promotion runs until December 5th and cuts the annual membership price by 33%. In the US, the annual subscription will cost $109.19, as opposed to the regular price of $159.99, which is the price without the Black Friday sale. Similarly, the price in India is discounted from ₹7,599 to ₹5,091.
You can also avail a 25% discount on PS Plus Extra membership. However, since the promotion brings the PS Plus Deluxe price to almost the same level as the Extra membership, the Deluxe (Premium) membership makes all the sense.

Now, if you proceed to purchase the annual membership, you may encounter a situation where the discounted price disappears as soon as you log in to your Sony PlayStation account. Let’s explore why it happens and how to work around it.
Reason – You already have a valid PS Plus membership
Sony has structured the Black Friday promotion such that it is only available to new buyers, those who do not have an existing PS Plus subscription. So, you cannot renew or upgrade the membership under the Black Friday discount. So, you cannot avail the sale prices if:
- You have an existing annual or monthly subscription to PS Plus Deluxe or Extra.
- Even if you cancel the existing subscription, the discount will not become available unless your subscription expires within the discount period.
It is not uncommon or new to restrict access to discounted prices to new sales only. The web hosting and several other service-based businesses clearly disallow black Friday discounts for renewals.
Solution – Create a new PlayStation account
If you have an annual subscription with several months remaining before expiry, then the Black Friday discounts may not be a good investment, as they cannot be stacked on top of an existing subscription. However, if you are on a monthly subscription or your annual subscription expires within the next month or two, you can utilize this workaround to claim access to PS Plus Deluxe for the next 12 months. Here’s how:
Create a new PlayStation account in the same region and purchase the PS Plus membership under it. You will get the discounted pricing, and since console sharing is possible, you can play the game under your existing account.
However, PS Plus games that are no longer part of the catalog will be removed due to their unavailability in the new account.
Is it a good workaround?
It depends on various factors, primarily the duration of your existing PS Plus subscription. If you have multiple months remaining on the subscription, the benefit derived from the Black Friday sale pricing will continue to decrease.
However, if you have less than 2 months remaining, you will find a good value by acquiring a PS Plus Deluxe (Premium) subscription at the 2025 Black Friday sale prices.
The decision can also be based on the games that are part of your existing subscription but are unavailable due to being dropped from the game catalog. You will not be able to access them.
Please let me know if you have decided to proceed with the new account method or if you would like to disregard the sale and move forward.
