WhatsApp has extended the support for Nokia’s Asha phones until the end of 2017. This is a good news since there are still a large number of Nokia Asha users. It is good to know that WhatsApp still cares about its users after being taken over by Facebook. WhatsApp previously mentioned that the support for Nokia S40 phones will end on June 30th.
The news comes from whatsappen.nl. The site claims that the information is communicated to them by WhatsApp co-founder Brian Acton. The original plan to end support for Nokia Symbian phones stays intact. However, the support for Blackberry 10 OS is also being extended to the end of 2017. WhatsApp is now supported on the following platforms:
- Android 2.3.3+
- iOS 7+
- Windows Phone 8+
- Nokia S40 (till end of 2017)
- BlackBerry OS 7, 10 (till end of 2017)
Hopefully, all Nokia S40 users will upgrade to the Android or iPhone devices. Nokia Asha users looking for the same level of durability can upgrade to the Nokia Android phones.
