Android powered Nokia 5 available in India – Price, Specs & where to buy

Nokia 5 is finally making it’s way to the Indian market. The phone goes on sale starting 15th of August which is also the country’s Independence day. HMD Global has priced the Nokia 5 at Rs. 12,499. The phone will be sold in 4 colours i.e. Matte Black, Tempered Blue, Copper, and Silver. However, only the matte black colour option will be available initially.

The Nokia 5 comes with a 5.2-inch polarized display engraved in a metal unibody design. It runs Android Nougat (without bloatware) out of the box and will be upgradeable to Android O (8.0) whenever it becomes available. Other specifications of the Nokia 5 include – 13MP and 8MP cameras, fingerprint sensor, 16MP storage with SD card support. The smartphone uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 430 chipset and comes with 2GB of RAM.

Where to buy Nokia 5 in India

HMD Global plans to sell the Nokia 5 via offline stores only. Selling offline can be a good strategy since the potential reach is much larger as compared to that of online stores. That said, the phone will be available online in the coming weeks. All thanks to the online divisions of many of the large chain offline stores.

Nokia 5 is available via leading electronics stores in India including Reliance Digital and Croma. You can also grab a Nokia 5 from your nearest retail store dealing in mobile phones. However, not all stores will carry Nokia smartphones. You can get in touch with Nokia India support if you want to locate a Nokia authorized store around you.

The suggested retail price of Nokia 5 is Rs. 12,499. While most of the retail stores will strive to sell it for the suggested price, some might go up by a few hundred rupees, while others may undercut the price by giving up a part of their margin. All I’m trying to say is that bargaining is very possible. So, depending on your skills, you might be able to grab the Nokia 5 for slightly lesser than Rs. 12,499.
