Idea launches 2 Low Cost Android Smartphones – Blade and id280

Looking at the popularity of Android Smartphones in India, Idea Cellular has recently announced the launch of two 3G enables Android Smartphones starting from Rs. 5850. The company claims that it will boost the penetration of 3G services in the price sensitive market of India.

The two handsets namely Blade and id280  are priced so that an average user can afford them. The company will provide special offers for new 3G customers as well as existing who buy these handsets which will help it to move a good base of users from 2G to 3G services.

Smartphone Specs and Pricing:

The id280 is manufactured by Huawei and runs on Android 2.2 (Froyo). It has a 2.8-inch capacitive screen with  a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. The device has a 528MHz processor, 256 MB RAM and a 3.2MP camera. It is priced at Rs. 5,850.

The other Smartphone, Blade also runs on Android 2.2 (Froyo) and  has a 3.5-inch screen and a 3.2MP camera. It is just a rebranding of Dell’s XCD35. So, all the features are the same of that of XCD35. The device is priced at Rs. 7,992.

Other common features include: GPS Navigator software, FM radio and MP3 PlayerWiFiBluetoothSocial Media Apps. They can also work as a WiFi hotspot. So, you can connect to the internet on all your WiFi availabel devices.

Special Offers:

Idea is offering 1GB 3G data, mobile TV subscription and Rs. 25 worth of talktime (Every month) free for 3 months with the Handset. Customers can also opt for a pack priced at Rs.259 which will give access to over Rs. 3500 worth of Data Services Free.
