Download OST flash tool for Nokia

Online Service Tool (or OST) is the official software which is used to flash stock firmware on Nokia smartphones. The software is used by the FIH factory and Nokia Mobile Care to revert the phones to factory software in case of any issues.

OST requires stock firmware in the .nb0 format. That said, you can also flash an unpacked nb0 using OST LA if the .mfl file is correctly formatted. All required drivers are included with OST.

Official version of OST requires an account with a valid username and password to flash the phones. Only the authorized PC (using MAC address) can login to the account and service the smartphones. This is set to prevent unauthorized use of the software. The OST 6.0.4 shared in this post is a patched version which can be used without a login. Newer versions of OST exist, but they cannot be patched (yet).

Download Nokia OST LA 6.0.4

There are 2 versions of OST available for download. First comes the patched version of OST LA wherein most of the functionality is enabled. The other is the full original build and can only be used to flash phones, without access to any other options.

Supported devices: All Nokia Android smartphones released to date. This includes: Nokia 1, Nokia 1 Plus, Nokia 2, Nokia 2.1, Nokia 2.2, Nokia 2.3, Nokia 3, Nokia 3.1, Nokia 3.1 Plus, Nokia 3.1 Plus C, Nokia 4.2, Nokia 5, Nokia 5.1, Nokia 5.1 Plus, Nokia Nokia 6, Nokia 6.1, Nokia X6 (Nokia 6.1 plus), Nokia 6.2, Nokia 7, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 7.1, Nokia 7.2, Nokia 8, Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 8.1, Nokia 9 PureView, Nokia X71..

OST can flash Nokia phones if the bootloader is already unlocked. (Tip: How to unlock bootloader?). For locked bootloaders, only the Care Center with a login can do flashing.

How to Install: Download the 7zip file from the above link. Then use 7zip, WiRar or any other program to extract the files to a folder. Finally run setup.bat.

OST LA will be installed to: C:\Program Files (x86)\OST LA . Double-click on OnlineUpdateTool.exe to start the program.

OST LA 6.0.4 without patch

This is the stock version of Nokia OST 6.0.4. In order to use it, you must edit the configuration file to update the SUTLEVEL.

  • Hi,
Couldn’t update firmware to Nokia 3.1 by Emergency mode. It is showing an error “ERROR FILE NOT FOUND”. But by Normal Mode it can do the firmware update. Please help.
    Thanks.

  • After initialization, I do not want to connect all the internet at the first screen, but I forcibly go to the internet connection screen.

If you turn off your Internet modem, the default is to browse the Internet.

Is there any way to make the skip button visible?

The skip button is not visible at all and can not be interrupted.

    Tell me how

    • In that case the Google FRP reset is kicking in, forcing the phone to connect to internet. Your only option is to take the upgrade and then remove the Google Account before downgrading again. Once the Google account is removed, the FRP keys will be reset and your device will no longer force an internet connection.

  • After StockRom is initialized
I do not want to update the Android version on the first screen.
How can I keep using the Android Oreo version?

    • You should not connect to internet on the first screen and that should stop the phone from forcing you to update. Also, maybe using mobile data instead of WiFi will help. Large updates should not be forced over mobile data connection.

  • Hi again,
I did all the updates until I have reached November, but following the same dialer method to go to December, nothing happens.
Restarted a couple times, deleted the file, renamed it, deleted and copied again. No luck.

    • Steven, the dialer method does not work anymore in Pie, I believe. So, you will have to use the “Install update from SD card” or “Install update from ADB” via the Nokia recovery mode to install it.

  • My nokia 7 plus hard bricked, trying to use ost la, so far 40 mins and counting been in download mode, no errors so far.
just there in the reflash service bootloader, is this normal or is there a problem.
Before trying ost my phone wasnt responding,no buttons working or combo and no charging indication..basically no type of boot up.

Narender, this happened after I changed the slot from A to B in an attempt to get updates, if you remeber.

    • Apologies that the suggestion didn’t work. But I hope your phone is good now after the flashing 🙂 You will only get updates which are tested and rolled out to your region. Some users suggest that removing the SIM card, then a factory reset and then using a VPN connection to India helps in getting updates.

      • Hi,
I am still on September patch,so I didn’t know if the phone has an issue or not with updates so I tried to manually update through dialer and it keeps saying installation problem.
But it recognises the update, I tried the December patch,i read somewhere the November patch was pulled so I didnt want to try it.
        Any suggestions?
Email me if possible, sometimes I dont get to see your responses here for some reason.

        • Hi Steven, the updates are really scarce in some regions, especially where operators play a direct or indirect role. As for your sideload method, the thing is that the OTAs are incremental. So, you cannot move from September to December without taking October and November first. In short, your device should be on the build which the December package expects. If you do not meet that, then the update will deny installing. The exception is if a full update file is released which does not depend on a pre-build. You should open the December zip and see which pre-build it expects. Then bring your device to that build before taking the December update. If the December package that you have was issued to October users, then you should be able to take it after taking October. If it is given to November users, then you need to move to November first.

    • This can work if your bootloader is unlocked. But you should rather use MediaTek tool to flash the Nokia X5.

  • I am facing this error. OST starts flashing my Nokia 7 Plus but remains on the same status “Reflash Service Bootloader”. It does not proceed further. Can you help me?

    • Which version of OST are you using? If you are using version 6.1.x, then it will not work as it needs server side permission to flash the service bootloader. Use the OST shared in this post and that will help.
