Android Devices to Get Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) Update

Android 6.0 or Marshmallow is high in the news these days. These headlines about Marshmallow are making people think whether their current Android device will be upgraded to the latest version or they will be left behind. A basic measure would be that most of the devices which came with Android 5.0 (Lollipop) out of the box will be updated to the latest Android 6.0. This post tries to list up the devices for which Android 6.0 update is imminent.

Devices Confirmed to get Marshmallow Update

Listed below are the devices for which the respective companies have committed to offer the Android 6.0 (marshmallow) update. Please do note that updates will be pushed after proper testing and approvals and can take multiple months before they are pushed to your device. Also, this list is only for reference and should not be taken as official.

If there’s one reason to blindly love Motorola, that’s Android Updates. Motorola has been one of the influences pushing other OEMs into supporting their Android devices for a longer duration. Unfortunately the Moto E (2015) is not getting Marshmallow. Neither is the Moto E from previous generations.

Other Devices Expected to get Marshmallow

If we get official confirmation about the Android 6.0 update for the devices mentioned below, we will move them to the confirmed section. So do keep checking!

Samsung Devices

Samsung does not have a very good track record when it comes to updates. It really takes long (if at all) for the updates to roll out to the Samsung’s family of devices. Still, while we wait for an official confirmation, the following devices are expected to be updated to Android 6.0.

  • Galaxy Note 5
  • Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+
  • Galaxy S6
  • Galaxy S6 Duos
  • Galaxy S6 Edge
  • Galaxy Note 4
  • Galaxy Note 4 Duos
  • Galaxy Note Edge
  • Galaxy Alpha
  • Galaxy Tab A
  • Galaxy A7
  • Galaxy A8

Asus Devices

While the Asus Zenfone devices are all stuck at Android 5.0.1 as of now, there’s still high possibility for the following devices to get a taste of Android 6.0. Asus might want to skip Android 5.1 to directly push Android 6.0 to its devices. Asus is however a turtle when it comes to pushing updates. So expected release would be 2016 only.

  • Zenfone 2 ZE551ML
  • Zenfone 2 ZE550ML
  • Zenfone 2 Deluxe Ze551ML
  • Zenfone 2 Ze500CL
  • Zenfone 2 Laser ZE550KL/ZE601KL
  • Zenfone Selfie ZD551KL
  • Zenfone Go ZC500TG

OnePlus Phones

As OnePlus only has two phones in its portfolio, both the OnePlus One and OnePlus Two are going to be updated to Android 6.0. There is no official word, but since the Oxygen OS is based mostly on stock Android, it shouldn’t take OnePlus long to skin Android 6.0 and push it to the users.

LG Devices

It’s all dark and guesses till the company speaks out about its upgrade plans. For LG, there is no official news out yet, but the LG G3 and LG G4 and LG V10 are three LG phones to be surely greeted with Android Marshmallow.

Xiaomi Devices

As the Xiaomi MIUI is a bit too far from the Stock Android, it will take a while for the Xiaomi devices to smell Android Marshmallow. For the time being, the following Xiaomi phones are suppoed to surely get Android Marshmallow update:

  • Xiaomi Mi4
  • Xiaomi Mi4i
  • Xiaomi Mi4c
  • Xiaomi Redmi Note 2
  • Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Prime
  • Redmi 2
  • Mi Note
  • Mi Note Pro

The Others

For Lenovo, updating the K3 Note, Vibe Z2, A7000, Vibe Shot & ZUK Z1 to Android Marshmallow makes a lot of sense.

The YU Yureka, Yureka Plus and Yu Yuphoria also have a solid hope of getting Android 6.0 update as they run Cyanogen OS.
Elephone P8000 is in the news for confirmation by the company that Android Marshmallow will be available for it.
Lenovo’s K3 Note is also high on the expectations list.
