Airtel now financing Nokia Android smartphones on easy bill plans

Airtel has started offering Nokia smartphones via its online store. Airtel is offering Nokia’s latest smartphones including the Nokia 6.1, Nokia 7 plus & Nokia 8 Sirocco. You do not need to pay the full cost of the device upfront. Instead, you are charged a monthly bill which varies as per the actual cost of the handset. It is similar to purchasing the phone on EMI, however, instead of paying the interest, you subscribe to a monthly postpaid plan which gives you calling & data benefits.

The business model is similar (not identical) to the phones offered on carrier contract in US & other countries. Sure, you can have the phone cheaper if you pay the full amount upfront. If you want to buy a new phone and are also willing to spend well on a phone plan, then these offers are the best bet. On the other hand, if you are a conservative user with limited spend on phone bill, then these financing offers will look a bit overpriced to you.

Cost calculation – Does it make sense?
