HMD Global – the brand licensee for Nokia phones seems to be a launch partner of the upcoming James Bond title. A Nokia mobile is also likely to make an appearance during the timeline of the movie titled “No Time to Die”. The movie, which is set to release in April will be the next big platform that Nokia Mobile will use to spread the word about Nokia.
HMD Global is also planning to run advertisements & social media campaigns inspired by “James Bond” & “007” to put across the Nokia brand name to more consumers. I came across a Twibbon which was created about a month ago (since Nokia was supposed to launch its new phones at MWC last month). They should start the campaign close to their upcoming launch.
Adding to that, DailyMail reported that Lashana Lynch recorded a few commercials for “Nokia” which are inspired by “007”. The advertisements were shot at multiple locations in London. Similarly, jamesbond.nl (a James Bond fan site) also suspects that the phone that James Bond (Daniel Craig) in the trailer might be a Nokia. It is hard to guess which Nokia phone it would be, but it could be the upcoming Nokia 8.2. If not, we are looking at the Nokia 7.2 for sure. At least the circular camera housing ensures that it is one of the recent Nokias.
Nokia Mobile will also launch some limited edition phone cases sporting the “007” moniker. A Kevlar case (below) for the Nokia 7.2 & Nokia 6.2 (spotted by LoveNokia) has recently appeared online. It will be available for EUR 25.
If that wasn’t enough proof, Nokia Mobile has also revealed the dates for their upcoming launch event in London. The teaser posted by Juho Sarvikas (HMD’s CPO) starts off with the words “No Time to Wait”. Nokia will announce new phones on 19th of March 2020.
Here’s a summary of all that we know so far:
- James Bond very likely uses a recent or upcoming Nokia smartphone during the movie’s timeline.
- Nokia Mobile shot advertisements with Lashana Lynch who is playing a role in “No Time to Die”.
- Nokia Mobile has created some social media campaigns which should go live soon.
- The teaser for the Nokia launch event scheduled for the 20th of March is inspired by “No Time to Die”.
