HMD Skyline is the hero device for Human Mobile Devices (HMD). It sports HMD’s brand name instead of the Nokia brand name we used to see. The phone comes with a familiar fabula-inspired design language that we saw on Nokia smartphones during the Nokia N8 and later Lumia era.
The phone runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset, which should be adequate to provide a balanced performance to the users. The biggest highlights of the device are its standout design and being the first Android device to support magnetic Qi wireless charging.

HMD Skyline firmware (stock ROM) files
Any smartphone can encounter issues such as being stuck in fastboot mode or unable to receive/install software updates. And a general solution against such problems is to flash the latest firmware in fastboot or EDL mode. However, HMD does not provide EDL firmware. So, fastboot flashing is the only way to flash the HMD Skyline and other new HMD smartphones.
The following is the list of HMD Skyline firmware files we have available for download. You can use the flash files to unbrick a bricked phone or upgrade it to a newer version. If you are a researcher, you can inspect the firmware and extract apps or other files from it. Whatever your use case is, here are the files at your disposal.

How to flash the firmware on HMD Skyline
The included files in the firmware package are suitable for flashing the phone under fastboot mode only. The files are inadequate for performing an EDL (Emergency download mode) flash. So, you cannot use tools such as Qfil or Qpst with the firmware package.
If the bootloader is unlocked (device state: unlocked)
- Download the firmware file.
- Extract all files within the romAll.zip file inside the firmware zip file.
- Use Android Platform Tools (Minimal ADB and Fastboot) to flash all the images to the phone. For example:
fastboot flash abl_a abl.elf
fastboot flash boot_a boot.img
And so on… - Finally, set slot a as the active slot and reboot the phone:
fastboot set_active a
fastboot reboot
If the bootloader is not unlocked (device state: locked)
You cannot flash the firmware by yourself. A connection to the HMD Care service is needed to gain flash permission.
You can use our Nokia phones stock ROM flashing service, and we will help you flash the firmware to the phone.
Otherwise, you will need to use the services of an HMD Care center. Alternatively, you can send the device for repair using HMD’s pick-and-drop service.
What happened if we downgrade the firmware, are we can’t flash it again with normal firmware to make it boot, or it will be bricked?
The downgrade will not boot. But it will boot again once the latest version is flashed.
So it still can get into the fastboot mode?
Yes, the natural fallback out of a non-bootable OS is fastboot mode.
