  • Well, AVG has fixed it now, so that you cannot use the 2015 version. My company has not approved the 2016 version yet, even though it is November.

So, I’m left with 2015. After I download the executable and start the install, AVG interrupts the process and sends me to this page – http://www.avg.com/us-en/2607, which explains that 2015 is obsolete and the install will continue with AVG 2016 only.

I tried 2016, in case my company’s list of approved software is out of date and 2016 does not work. But thanks to AVG, I now can’t install 2015.

Funny thing is, I believe if I already had 2015 installed, AVG wouldn’t touch it…

    • You probably can still install the 2015 version by changing your PC’s date to somewhere in mid-2015. Also keep the internet disconnected as you do this.
After you’re done, I believe it will continue to function even if you revert the date back to present.

  • Easy to install the 2015 Version. Download the file. Then change your clock to May 2015, Install the software. After the software says successfully installed (prior to clicking into the program), change your clock back to the current time & then run the AVG Updates until it says no more updates. I find that the 2015 Free Version works better on XP, Vista, & Windows 7 than the new 2016 version.

  • I downloaded AVG Free 2015 OK in Windows Safe Mode, using W XP SP3, using the link avg_free_x86_all_2015_ltst_222.
I closed down my computer, BUT NOW I CANNOT GET Windows to start up! Help? What do I do? It will not start up in Safe Mode, nor IN Last Known Good Configuration. I tried Disable Automatic Restart After System Failure, and then got a failure, “unmountable-boot-volume”, disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. But I cannot do anything! Help!
