HMD’s flagship smartphone from 2020 – the Nokia 8.3 5G has started receiving the upgrade to Android 12. The phone launched on Android 10 and was upgraded to Android 11 in January 2021. Now, around a year later, the phone is ready to be up to date with the most recent version of Android available to the end consumers.
Android 12 update for Nokia 8.3 5G started showing up in some countries. The information comes from one user of the Nokia Community forums from Finland. The updated version is v.3.380 and it also comes with the Google security patch from April 2022.
Nokia smartphones run a clean and barely modified version of Android. So, users will get most of the features provided by Google under the Android One program. If you are a user of the Nokia 8.3, then you will experience new features related to personalization and privacy along with a new blocky design of the user interface. You can check for new updates by going to Settings > System > System updates.
Nokia 8.3 5G joins the Nokia XR20, Nokia X20, Nokia X10, and Nokia G50, in the list of Nokia smartphones that have been upgraded to Android 12. Android 12 is the last major OS upgrade being made available to the Nokia 8.3. However, it will continue to receive maintenance and security patches until November 2023.
